Anne Baranski -- 8 and Unders Coach
Anne is a new addition to the Piranhas coaching staff this
year, relocating from the Iron Mountain, Michigan area,
where she coached the 8 and unders for the Waves Swim Team.
She is certified as a YMCA swim coach, and hopes to become
certified as a USA coach before the indoor season rolls
around this fall. This is Anne's first year coaching
outdoor swim. There were no outdoor swim teams in upper
Michigan, and she is looking forward to working in a
different environment. She thinks that the outdoor setting
will be a lot of fun, and can't wait to get started!
Anne loves that swimming is a skill that will last the rest
of your life, whether the swimming interest is competitive,
for exercise, or for fun. Her goal this summer is to
see that each swimmer learns something new, makes new
friends, takes pride in what they accomplish, and HAS A GOOD
TIME! Anne is also a YMCA Certified swim official,
meet manager, and served as president of the Waves Swim Team
for the past three years. She has one ten year old son who
loves to swim, and has been the catalyst for her coaching
career.

This is my first year
coaching for the Piranhas and I am very excited for a
fun season. I swam for the Piranhas since I was 11
years old. I swam in high school under Nancy Harms, and
I swam for Badger Aquatics Club during the high school
off-season. I lifeguard at the Aquatic Center in the
summer, and teach swimming lessons there as well. I
attend UW Madison where I am majoring in Human
Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in child
development in hopes of attending grad school in the
future to pursue physical therapy with children.
Besides swimming, running is my favorite thing to do so
give me a wave if you see me running around town because
I will be out there every day to get ready for next
years cross country and track season. Other than that I
am super excited to have a competitive
season filled
with excitement and fun as well!

School Status: Graduated in 2007 from DeForest Area High School and
just finished my freshman year at the UW Madison with, so far, an
undeclared major.
Past Swimming Experience: I swam in the
DeForest Aquatic Club for three years before going into high school
and swimming there. I was state champion and received an
All-American Status in the 100 Fly both junior and senior years.
I swam briefly at UW Madison before ending my career for academic
reasons.
Hobbies: School and working out (mainly
swimming! :) I also love playing/watching/anything to do with
football. I also play both the piano and guitar.

This is my
second year as a Piranha coach. I'm very excited to see
the returning swimmers as well as the new
ones. I am
currently a student at Madison Area Technical College taking
my general classes. I am hoping to get into
the Criminal Justice Program this fall. I started
swimming competitively with the Piranhas when I was 4 years
old, to make it a grand total of 16 years. I also swam
winter swim with MEYO, and then Badger Aquatic Club. I
graduated in 2004 from Edgewood High School, where I swam 4
years of varsity swimming. I have always enjoyed
swimming and now I'm grateful to get the experience to teach
children something that is so positive in my life. I
hope to have another great summer with the swim team.
